About Lara
Lara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Psychotherapist, an EMDR Therapist, a Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist, a Texas state board-approved supervisor and has worked within the mental health field for 15 years. Lara received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech and her master’s degree from Texas A&M- Commerce. Lara has experience in mental health, case management, nonprofit, social work, school systems, and the supervising of clinical teams.
Before going into the private practice sector, Lara was the Director of a Partial Hospitalization Program that oversaw teens, families, and adults presenting with a range of neurological and psychological disorders as well as emotional, behavioral, substance abuse, and developmental challenges. During this time, she gained knowledge and expertise in diagnosing and assessing issues related to anxiety, adjustment disorder, impulsivity, depression, self-harm and other high-risk behaviors.
Lara specializes in EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Suicide Prevention and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She has written Suicide & Safety plans, as well as Risk Assessments that multiple school districts currently use as part of their curriculum and intervention process.
Lara will work with you and your teen to not only build rapport but assist the family in finding its communication style, resolving conflict, and healing from Trauma using EMDR.
Lara knows that therapy can be intimidating for anyone; “My office is a safe place, allowing them to navigate through their emotions without feeling as if they are broken, needing to be fixed.”
Lara also provides therapeutic appts for adults as well. Lara spent 5 years focusing on adults and families with Depression, Bi-Polar, Anxiety, PTSD, and Trauma.
Lara is currently accepting new clients with evening appointments available.
